Milestones
11th century Building of the Bayenturm as a South-Eastern corner bastion of the medieval city fortifications
1620 In the Thirty Years' War, the Bayenturm was expanded further and reinforced
17th - 18th century The tower served as a fortification gaol
Beginning of 19th century The exhibits of changing museums were stored in the tower
1939-45 The top floor of the Bayenturm was extensively destroyed
1994 The restoration of the Bayenturm was completed

Today, the interior is home to the Women's Archive and Documentation Centre. Its Board member, Alice Schwarzer, also has an office there.
