In order to make the »Antoniterkirche« more suitable as a preaching church, building changes were undertaken, in order to create a wide parish room.

Milestones
1298	Archbishop Wigbold von Holte called the »Antoniter« to Cologne and transferred the possession of another disbanding order to them
1350-84	The »Antoniter« built their church in the Gothic style
1802	The Antoniterkirche was handed over to the Protestants by Napoleon

Through these changes, a fragment of the crucifixion scene from the 16th century also again became visible. The church is also well known for Ernst Barlach's »Angel of Death«, a second casting created in 1942 (original »Floating Angel«, 1928), and furnished with the facial expressions of Käthe Kollwitz. The Angel represents the personified accusation of the fallen soldiers on the battlefield.
