Libraries & Archives

Cologne is increasingly developing into a literature city. Not only are all the colleges contributing to this, but also the relatively young House of Literature in the Media Park. It considers itself a forum for both authors and writers and readers and literature lovers alike.

Numerous events with readings and discussions – ranging from classical to modern literature – characterise the varied programme. Foreign language libraries can be found, above all, in cultural institutions. Fans of Russian literature will appreciate readings and other events in the Lew Kopelew Forum.
Amongst the specialised libraries, the diocesan library in the Maternushaus with its comprehensive collection dealing with theological and medieval subjects is particularly worth emphasising. Yet the interested reader can also find masses of specialist literature on other specialised topics in the libraries of the cathedral city. Some of the catalogues are digitally registered and can be called up on the Internet.
